Senior Technical Delivery Manager, Data and AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the end-to-end execution of intricate, multi-workstream Data & AI initiatives from inception to production and ongoing operations.

• Ensure accountability for project scope, timelines, budget/margins, quality, risks, and client outcomes.

• Develop and oversee delivery plans, RAID logs, sprint schedules, dependencies, and governance frameworks.

• Facilitate program status meetings and lead executive steering committees.

• Recognize risks and formulate mitigation strategies.

• Manage scope and change control, addressing scope creep, business and financial implications, and client change requests.

• Lead geographically distributed onshore/offshore teams comprising 8–25+ engineers, architects, data specialists, and consultants.

• Set standards for engineering quality, documentation, code review, DevOps, environment management, and production readiness.

• Oversee staffing and ramp-up strategies.

• Mentor, coach, and develop team members.

• Eliminate technical, delivery, and interpersonal obstacles and escalate issues as necessary.

• Act as the primary day-to-day delivery leader for client executives, data leaders, technology stakeholders, and business sponsors.

• Transform business goals into technical and delivery strategies.

• Cultivate trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and maintain transparent, fact-based communication.

• Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), KPI assessments, steering committees, escalations, and recovery strategies.

• Direct structured recovery initiatives for projects that deviate from their intended path.

• Achieve client satisfaction and measurable business results as part of delivery KPIs.

• Supervise architecture and technical delivery across Snowflake, Databricks, and the modern data ecosystem.

• Ensure robust practices in data architecture, pipelines, governance, security, optimization, cloud infrastructure, cost management, support, and reliability.

• Guide decisions regarding build-vs-buy scenarios, platform selections, technical debt, and architectural trade-offs.

• Document, articulate, and justify key technical choices.

• Manage the delivery of AI/ML and GenAI solutions, including model lifecycle management, evaluation, production readiness, and responsible AI practices.

• Identify and develop follow-on opportunities and account growth.

• Contribute to proposals, Statements of Work (SOWs), estimates, delivery methodologies, staffing models, and commercial planning.

• Serve as the delivery and technical advocate during pre-sales engagements and client presentations.

• Evaluate delivery risks and ensure commitments are realistic and achievable.

• Contribute to the creation of reusable delivery playbooks, accelerators, frameworks, and lessons learned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in technology delivery, consulting, or professional services.

• A minimum of 5 years in leading complex data, analytics, or AI initiatives.

• Experience in a consulting or professional services setting.

• Understanding of utilization, margins, SOWs, change orders, and commercial delivery processes.

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks in production settings.

• Familiarity with data warehouse and lakehouse architectures.

• Knowledge of Delta Lake and/or Apache Iceberg.

• Understanding of Unity Catalog and/or Snowflake governance frameworks.

• Expertise in data workload optimization.

• Knowledge of cloud architecture and platform cost factors.

• Proficient with dbt, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, or similar ELT/orchestration platforms.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, semantic layers, and data CI/CD practices.

• Experience leading distributed onshore/offshore technical teams.

• Proficient in engaging directly with C-suite executives and senior technology/data leaders.

• Proven track record of recovering or revitalizing at least one challenging or at-risk program.

• Strong command of Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies.

• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.

• Willingness and ability to travel to client locations as required.
