Technical Project Manager – Solutions Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a liaison among project management, engineering, field implementation, and the client.

• Assess client needs, current infrastructure, approved scopes, network diagrams, equipment requirements, migration strategies, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.

• Convert business and technical requirements into actionable implementation plans.

• Detect technical risks, gaps in information, and potential scope concerns prior to implementation.

• Engage in solution design and technical exploration.

• Create or evaluate implementation runbooks and cutover plans.

• Manage project timelines, milestones, dependencies, communication, and deliverables.

• Lead project kick-off meetings and ensure ongoing client communication.

• Coordinate the efforts of engineers, technicians, installers, vendors, and external service providers.

• Oversee maintenance windows and implementation timelines.

• Keep project status, risk, issue, and change-control documentation up to date.

• Monitor project labor and resource needs.

• Identify scope adjustments and facilitate approval prior to executing additional work.

• Configure and deploy network infrastructure as necessary.

• Work with firewalls, managed switches, UniFi controllers, wireless access points, VLANs, VPNs, routing, DHCP, DNS, monitoring, and network security measures.

• Participate in wireless deployments and assess performance.

• Assist with Microsoft 365 migrations, tenant setups, MFA, Conditional Access, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams projects.

• Configure or evaluate migration tools and confirm migration outcomes.

• Resolve technical issues faced during implementation.

• Take part in production cutovers and validate post-cutover results.

• Organize and/or carry out pre-staging of equipment and configurations.

• Ensure technical prerequisites are met before implementation.

• Validate network connectivity, routing, authentication, applications, wireless, VPN, monitoring, backups, and other relevant services.

• Confirm that completed work meets documented acceptance criteria.

• Coordinate the resolution of issues identified during testing.

• Serve as a technical point of contact for clients.

• Clarify technical requirements, risks, limitations, and anticipated project effects.

• Translate technical jargon into comprehensible business language.

• Coordinate client approvals, access, credentials, maintenance schedules, and user notifications.

• Maintain project and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

• Update network diagrams, VLAN/IP details, port maps, equipment inventories, migration logs, and configuration documentation.

• Preserve implementation runbooks and project closure documentation.

• Deliver technical handoff information to support teams.

• Conduct post-project evaluations and document insights gained.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional experience in IT infrastructure engineering, technical project management, systems administration, network engineering, or a similar role.

• Strong comprehension of networking principles, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DHCP, DNS, and wireless technologies.

• Experience with infrastructure deployments and production cutover processes.

• Proven ability to manage technical projects from inception to completion.

• Exceptional client-facing communication abilities.

• Proficient in understanding technical documentation and project scopes.

• Strong organizational, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

• Capability to balance hands-on technical tasks with project coordination duties.

• Preferred: Experience with Ubiquiti UniFi switching, wireless systems, and network management.

• Preferred: Familiarity with next-generation firewalls, VPNs, WAN failover, and network segmentation.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and Microsoft Entra.

• Preferred: Experience with implementing Conditional Access and MFA.

• Preferred: Background in cloud-to-cloud and file-server migrations.

• Preferred: Experience with wireless heatmap assessments and RF optimization.

• Preferred: Involvement in coordinating structured cabling and low-voltage infrastructure.

• Preferred: Previous experience working for an MSP, managed service provider, technology integrator, or IT infrastructure provider.

• Preferred: Relevant networking, Microsoft, or project management certifications.
