Senior Engineering Project Manager – Substation Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the execution of substation and interconnection engineering for large-scale renewable energy projects.

• Oversee multiple intricate projects or a related portfolio from proposal creation through to project completion.

• Interpret contract, proposal, and scope language, translating delivery requirements into clear directives.

• Develop and finalize proposals, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, work plans, and resource allocations.

• Manage internal discipline and subconsultant outputs, including construction drawings, equipment specifications, RFIs, submittals, change requests, and project communications.

• Prepare, monitor, and submit monthly project invoices while maintaining accurate project documentation.

• Identify project risks, changes in scope, and schedule impacts while driving timely decisions and documented solutions.

• Approve project execution strategies and monitor performance against scope, schedule, budget, quality, and contractual obligations.

• Coordinate staffing and workload across various project teams.

• Review project deliverables to ensure compliance with client, contractual, utility, and jurisdictional requirements.

• Act as a senior point of contact for clients, utilities, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.

• Represent Revamp in meetings, communicating project status, risks, decisions, and technical high voltage issues.

• Contribute expertise in high voltage scope, budget, schedule, and execution to proposals and business development efforts.

• Mentor project managers and less experienced personnel.

• Coordinate leads for civil, electrical, structural, and power systems disciplines.

• Present project recommendations and trade-offs to clients, internal leaders, and project teams.

• Foster shared ownership of deliverables and encourage inclusive collaboration.

• Perform essential duties and additional related responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.

• At least eight years of project management experience in engineering consulting, renewable energy, or a similar industry.

• Direct experience in delivering high voltage projects, including substations, interconnections, transmission systems, or related utility infrastructure.

• Proven ownership of project scope, schedule, budget, invoicing, and client deliverables across multiple concurrent projects.

• Ability to comprehend contract and proposal terms and articulate their delivery implications to internal teams, clients, utilities, and subcontractors.

• Capability to independently identify, assess, and resolve complex project and delivery challenges, seeking guidance only when necessary.

• Advanced verbal, written, and presentation skills tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time, including overnight trips, to support project locations, client meetings, and team gatherings.

• Prior high voltage engineering experience before transitioning to project management, including electrical, structural, protection and controls, physical substation, or transmission work.

• Experience with a high voltage design-build or high voltage engineering firm.

• Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and subconsultants across a project portfolio.

• PMP certification or similar project management credential.

• Familiarity with the development and interconnection lifecycle of utility-scale renewable energy projects.
