This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts in Australia.
• Draft annual financial statements, tax calculations, workpapers, and supporting schedules.
• Execute and review BAS and other compliance work related to Australian taxes.
• Manage tax and accounting issues for SMEs, business owners, franchisees, as well as high-net-worth individuals and families.
• Prepare SMSF financial statements and tax returns as necessary.
• Coordinate with SMSF auditors and clients when applicable.
• Oversee and gradually expand a portfolio of clients.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding tax, accounting, and any outstanding information.
• Manage deadlines, workflow, and follow-ups with clients.
• Review the work of junior accountants and offer constructive feedback.
• Coach and mentor three junior accountants.
• Assist the Manager with technical inquiries, workflow, and quality control.
• Proactively identify issues, delays, and opportunities for process improvements.
• Uphold high standards of accuracy, quality, and client service.
• Allocate approximately 80% of time on hands-on Australian tax and accounting tasks, and 20% on coaching junior accountants and expanding the client portfolio.
• CPA qualified in the Philippines.
• 3–5+ years of relevant experience in Australian tax and/or business services.
• Strong hands-on experience in preparing Australian individual, company, and trust tax returns.
• In-depth knowledge of Australian tax, accounting, and compliance standards.
• Experience working with Australian SMEs and/or business owners.
• Capacity to independently prepare high-quality tax returns, financial statements, and workpapers.
• Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Comfortable engaging directly with Australian clients.
• Professional and clear communication style with a neutral accent.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Strong initiative, accountability, and a proactive work ethic.
• Willingness to coach and mentor junior accountants.
• Candidates must have significant experience in preparing Australian tax returns; primarily bookkeeping or management accounting experience is not suitable.
• SMSF experience is advantageous, though not mandatory.
• Experience with Australian franchise businesses.
• Experience managing a portfolio of Australian clients.
• Previous experience in reviewing or mentoring junior accountants.
• Experience with more complex individual or high-net-worth client matters.
• Familiarity with Xero, XPM, BGL, Ignition, Microsoft Excel, and standard accounting/tax tools is highly desirable.
• Availability aligned with Australian business hours, approximately 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
• Disclosure of any existing ongoing roles or client work is required.
• This engagement should be reflected on LinkedIn as “Independent Contractor.”
• Fully remote position based in the Philippines.
