This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of the company's tax compliance function from start to finish.
• Manage the global tax compliance calendar for all entities and jurisdictions.
• Monitor deadlines, extensions, estimated payments, and tax notifications.
• Oversee external tax advisors and preparers in each respective country.
• Define the scope of engagements, establish timelines, manage information requests, review deliverables, and oversee fees in relation to the budget.
• Conduct audits and reconcile trial balances, fixed asset registers, apportionment data, intercompany transactions, and sales data with the general ledger.
• Be responsible for tax reporting, which includes the income tax provision, related balance sheet accounts, deferred tax schedules, and support for tax footnotes.
• Reconcile tax accounts on a monthly basis as part of the closing process.
• Prepare and/or review sales and use tax filings across various U.S. jurisdictions.
• Track nexus and registration requirements while ensuring compliance with exemption certificates.
• Manage sales tax software and maintain filing schedules.
• Address tax notices, inquiries, and audits in collaboration with external advisors.
• Keep organized, audit-ready filing documentation.
• Coordinate cross-border matters with the UK finance team and international advisors.
• Assist with transfer pricing documentation, withholding tax, and intercompany charge compliance.
• Develop and maintain the tax compliance playbook, standardized checklists, data request templates, and a tracking dashboard.
• Stay informed on legislative and regulatory changes, advising the CFO on necessary actions.
• Provide tax-related analysis for business initiatives, entity changes, and transactions.
• Supervise staff as the role evolves and expands.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in a corporate or public accounting tax setting.
• Required experience with a Big 4 firm (PwC, Deloitte, EY, or KPMG).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from a top-tier university.
• Practical experience with multi-state income/franchise tax and sales and use tax compliance.
• Familiarity with ASC 740 and the process of income tax provision.
• Capability to manage multiple external service providers, competing deadlines, and stakeholders across various functions and geographies.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong reconciliation abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred exposure to international tax compliance, VAT/GST, or transfer pricing.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, NetSuite, or Xero is preferred.
• Familiarity with sales tax platforms like Avalara or Vertex is preferred.
• Background in a private equity-backed, multi-entity, or distribution/inventory-focused business is preferred.
• Experience in a smaller company or in-house environment where processes were created or enhanced is preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Ability to stand and walk occasionally.
• Capable of sitting for extended periods and using hand and finger dexterity consistently.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25kg.
• Adequate vision for close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception; ability to adjust focus as needed.
