
Senior Systems Software Engineer, Compute Stack Acceleration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
β’ Oversee the adoption of toolchain, build, code health, and performance workflow projects across extensive software components.
β’ Assess and implement supported GCC and LLVM/Clang toolchains, compiler options, linkers, sysroots, and configurations for cross-compilation.
β’ Incorporate contemporary toolchains and workflows into intricate build systems and continuous integration environments.
β’ Collaborate with component owners to establish valuable Clang diagnostic builds and targeted sanitizer coverage.
β’ Analyze techniques such as link-time optimization, profile-guided optimization, AutoFDO, and BOLT on representative software.
β’ Utilize profiling, PMU data, flame graphs, and binary/source analysis to pinpoint actionable insights regarding performance and code quality.
β’ Develop automation tools, wrappers, validation scripts, dashboards, and migration aids to enhance adoption and repeatability.
β’ Assess variations in runtime, code size, build time, launch latency, throughput, quality, or engineering velocity.
β’ Address complex issues by directing them to the relevant compiler, runtime, library, infrastructure, or component owner.
β’ Document validated methodologies as reusable playbooks for other engineering teams.
β’ Clearly communicate technical outcomes and trade-offs to engineers and leadership.
β’ BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
β’ Over 8 years of relevant experience in systems software engineering.
β’ Proficient in C and C++ development, debugging, and code review.
β’ Strong knowledge of Linux systems with hands-on experience in complex native software stacks.
β’ Practical experience with GCC or LLVM/Clang, linkers, compiler options, and build systems.
β’ Experience working within large, multi-component codebases and CI environments.
β’ Background in performance profiling, root-cause analysis, and before-and-after validation.
β’ Capability to lead projects amid significant technical and organizational uncertainty.
β’ Outstanding written and verbal communication skills along with a history of effective collaboration across teams.
