This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Oversee and facilitate surveillance system operations throughout the company's portfolio.
• Define, design, and incorporate ground-based surveillance frameworks within the Systems Engineering V.
• Create requirements, use cases, and functional architectures for DAA, ADS-B, Radar, and TCAS/ACAS.
• Assist with certification, safety, as well as verification and validation planning throughout the system's lifecycle.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, IPT leads, systems engineers, program managers, and system architects.
• Provide systems lifecycle artifacts and technical guidance through the current CDR phase.
• Establish comprehensive bi-directional requirements traceability for surveillance systems.
• Aid in the development of System/Subsystem Design Descriptions for Critical Design Reviews.
• Identify and alleviate traffic-surveillance technical and performance risks.
• Capture, derive, and manage system and subsystem requirements, considering operational needs, customer feedback, airspace limitations, and regulatory standards.
• Develop and sustain SysML models utilizing MBSE methodologies and tools like Cameo.
• Assist in the definition of architecture and technical integration for surveillance sensors and systems.
• Propel system development through implementation, verification, validation, and certification.
• Support ARP4754B development practices and conduct system safety assessments per ARP4761A.
• Assist with SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and qualification reviews.
• Ensure adherence to customer, contractual, and regulatory obligations.
• Coordinate cross-functional engineering efforts and oversee junior and mid-level systems engineers.
• Report directly to the Systems Engineering Manager.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field from an accredited institution.
• Over 7 years of experience in a highly technical, aerospace-related industry.
• More than 5 years of experience in a Systems Engineering role.
• Practical experience with surveillance avionics systems, collision avoidance, or sensor fusion technologies, including ADS-B, Radar, TCAS/ACAS X, DAA, or Mode S Transponders.
• Knowledge of all phases of the systems engineering design process: ConOps, requirements development, software/system architecture, system integration and test, and verification and validation.
• Experience with ARP 4754B.
• Capability to support system safety reviews in accordance with ARP 4761.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• Preferred: Experience in developing aircraft systems, UTM, or AAM platforms.
• Preferred: Familiarity with RTCA/EUROCAE surveillance standards such as DO-365, DO-260, DO-185, and DO-386.
• Preferred: Understanding of DO-178C and DO-254 airborne development processes.
• Preferred: Experience with Polarion or DOORS.
• Preferred: Experience applying MBSE principles utilizing SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw.
