Senior Systems Engineer, IT Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Croatia.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, install, operate, update, and troubleshoot specialized IT infrastructure components.

• Manage terminal server environments, virtual server infrastructures, backup and recovery systems, Linux and Windows server environments, patch and lifecycle management, database systems, secure file transfer environments, monitoring solutions, and standardized platforms and applications.

• Independently oversee incidents, problems, and escalations through last-level support.

• Provide consultation, planning, and technical design support for IT projects.

• Coordinate tasks, timelines, and deliverables assigned to external service providers, IT specialist groups, and operational business units.

• Collaborate with external service providers and internal IT specialist teams.

• Serve as the primary contact for last-level and highly complex technical issues.

• Design and implement automation solutions, including scripting as necessary.

• Conceptualize tasks suitable for routine and operational activities.

• Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation.

• Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled maintenance or technical changes outside standard business hours.

• Assume ITSM roles such as Incident Manager, Problem Manager, Change Manager, and System Coordinator.

• Ensure compliance with information security requirements and careful management of privileged access rights.

• Adhere to confidentiality obligations, contractual and legal regulations, and ISMS policies.

• Promptly report and actively assist in resolving security incidents.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of proven, hands-on experience in systems engineering and server/system administration within complex, enterprise IT environments.

• ITILv4 Foundation certification.

• Fluent in German language skills (at least B2/C1 level).

• Fluent in English language skills (at least B2/C1 level).

• In-depth knowledge of virtualization technologies, particularly Proxmox.

• In-depth knowledge of backup and restore products, such as Veeam.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a comparable qualification is preferred but not mandatory.

• Very high willingness to learn, strong resilience, and flexibility in a dynamic IT environment.

• Structured, goal-oriented, and analytical working style with a strong sense of ownership.

• Strong organizational and coordination skills.

• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.

• Excellent communication skills.
