Senior Systems Engineer – IT Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Croatia.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, install, operate, update, and troubleshoot intricate IT infrastructure components.

• Oversee terminal server environments, virtual server infrastructures, backup and recovery systems, Linux and Windows servers, patch and lifecycle management, databases, secure file transfer environments, monitoring solutions, as well as standardized platforms and applications.

• Independently handle incidents, problems, and escalations through advanced support.

• Provide consultancy, planning, and technical design support for IT projects.

• Coordinate tasks, timelines, and deliverables with external service providers, IT specialist teams, and operational business units.

• Serve as the main point of contact for advanced and highly complex technical issues.

• Develop and implement automation solutions, including scripting.

• Conceptualize routine and operational tasks.

• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

• Participate in on-call rotations and scheduled work outside of standard business hours for maintenance and technical modifications.

• Fulfill ITSM roles including Incident Manager, Problem Manager, Change Manager, and System Coordinator.

• Ensure compliance with information security standards and proper management of privileged access rights.

• Uphold confidentiality obligations, contractual and legal regulations, and ISMS policies.

• Report on and assist in the resolution of security incidents.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar qualification is preferred but not essential.

• At least 5 years of practical systems engineering and server/system administration experience in complex enterprise IT settings.

• ITILv4 Foundation certification.

• Proficiency in German at B2/C1 level or above.

• Proficiency in English at B2/C1 level or above.

• Extensive knowledge of virtualization technologies, particularly Proxmox.

• Thorough understanding of backup and restore products, such as Veeam.

• Eagerness to learn, resilience, and adaptability in a dynamic IT landscape.

• Methodical, goal-oriented, and analytical approach to work.

• Strong sense of ownership, organizational abilities, and coordination skills.

• Capacity to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.

• Exceptional communication and teamwork capabilities in an international context.

• Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts.

• High commitment, reliability, and a proactive mindset.

• A CV in German is required.
