This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and oversee the cloud platform utilized by all Headway engineers.
• Revamp deployment architecture to ensure per-service deploy isolation and functional-area blast-radius containment.
• Manage the ECS and EKS footprint, assess broader EKS implementation for AI workloads, and create inter-service network connectivity.
• Control capacity for fluctuating workloads using predictive floors and early drift detection.
• Develop a Terraform self-serve infrastructure platform with built-in guardrails.
• Empower engineering teams to handle standard infrastructure modifications while Reliability Engineering evaluates non-standard changes.
• Implement per-team cost attribution across AWS, Datadog, and LLM expenditures.
• Enhance visibility and attribution of infrastructure costs for informed decision-making.
• Oversee the Python monolith runtime behavior under load, including garbage collection, event loop contention, and runtime constraints.
• Lead upgrades to frameworks and packages.
• Propel technical direction and enhance the skills of other engineers through architecture reviews, runbooks, and paved-road tooling.
• A minimum of 5 years in platform, infrastructure, or SRE roles at organizations handling significant production traffic.
• Extensive AWS knowledge and production management of compute and networking at scale, including ECS, EKS, RDS, networking, and IAM.
• Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code, particularly Terraform.
• Proven experience in designing self-serve platforms for engineering teams.
• Hands-on expertise in autoscaling and capacity engineering.
• Proficiency in container orchestration with ECS and/or EKS.
• Proven track record of making deploys safe and self-serve for other teams.
• Experience in FinOps and cloud cost optimization (preferred).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and EKS (preferred).
• Experience with observability tools at scale, including Datadog (preferred).
• Background in healthcare or other regulated environments (preferred).
