This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Develop and execute public safety solutions for Motorola ASTRO 25 and related technologies for state and local government entities.
• Oversee technical components of designated projects until system acceptance is achieved.
• Design and set up radio networks, encompassing infrastructure, subscribers, mobile backhaul, WAN, and CEN networks.
• Conduct customer design reviews, manage witnessed staging and acceptance testing, carry out coverage acceptance testing, perform live system upgrades, and troubleshoot issues.
• Assemble, configure, and test systems in both lab staging and field settings.
• Execute radio coverage assessments, frequency analysis, and interference reduction measures.
• Handle radio system licensing, which includes FCC/Industry Canada licensing.
• Create system fleetmaps, encryption schemas, and templates for radio programming.
• Implement live system cutovers and upgrades effectively.
• Ensure thorough completion of system documentation.
• Develop design documents and schematics for project teams.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Systems Engineers, System Technologists, Construction Managers, Customer Service Managers, clients, consultants, and third-party service professionals.
• Manage multiple simultaneous projects while adapting to changing priorities.
• Configure and troubleshoot applications and operating systems on IP network devices, servers, or virtualization platforms.
• Resolve software installation issues, analyze log files, and partner with development engineers to address challenges.
• Candidate must be a resident of Pennsylvania.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or technical field and a minimum of 3 years of engineering or technical experience, or 4-7 years of relevant experience.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is mandatory.
• Employer sponsorship for work permits is not available for this position.
• Understanding of Radio Frequency Engineering principles.
• Familiarity with Land/Mobile Radio Engineering principles.
• Knowledge of Wireless & Wireline communication systems.
• Proficiency in RFDS principles, including antenna and cable selection, transmit combiners, receive multi-couplers, and lightning protection systems.
• Familiarity with P25 Land Mobile Radio terminology and two-way subscriber radio provisioning methods.
• Experience with Motorola ASTRO 25 architecture is advantageous.
• Skills in constructing remote communication sites, including site selection, grounding, compound development, and tower and shelter requirements.
• Proficiency with Fortinet and Juniper firewalls; Nokia 7705 series routers; Juniper SRX/MX (Junos) series routers; HP/Aruba and Juniper switches.
• Experience with remote access using SSH, SCP, SFTP, and RDP.
• Knowledge of point-to-point Microwave systems and Microwave RF & Network design.
• Understanding of FCC licensing and frequency search processes.
• Experience with software applications integration, API concepts, computer operating systems, and the OSI model.
• Familiarity with networking protocols and devices including OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, SIP, RTP, SNMP, NAT, routers, switches, and stateful packet firewalls.
• Knowledge of physical layer technologies such as fiber, copper, and microwave connectivity.
• Comfortable using Microsoft, Google, and other office productivity and drawing software packages.
• Excellent skills in troubleshooting, critical thinking, analysis, communication, and technical writing.
• Capable of working independently without local supervision, leading customer-facing meetings, collaborating with colleagues, clients, and third-party service professionals, and adjusting priorities with minimal notice.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and balance priorities effectively.
• Willingness to learn and utilize company-provided software systems and tools for IP network systems, radio coverage modeling, RF components, applications, operating systems, virtualization platforms, software debugging, and log review.
• GROL, Amateur Radio Operator License, or equivalent experience is preferred.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certifications are advantageous.
