This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +3 more states.
• Oversee the technical components of designated projects until system acceptance is achieved.
• Design and deploy radio networks, which encompass infrastructure, subscribers, mobile backhaul, WAN, and CEN networks.
• Facilitate customer design reviews, conduct customer-witnessed staging and acceptance tests, perform coverage acceptance testing, execute live system upgrades, and address troubleshooting needs.
• Construct, configure, and conduct acceptance testing of systems in both laboratory staging and field settings.
• Execute radio coverage assessments, frequency analysis, and interference reduction strategies.
• Handle radio system licensing in compliance with FCC/Industry regulations.
• Create system fleet maps, encryption templates, and radio programming frameworks.
• Finalize system documentation comprehensively.
• Carry out live system cutovers and upgrades efficiently.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Systems Engineers, System Technologists, Construction Managers, Customer Service Managers, clients, consultants, and external service providers.
• Willingness to travel 25–50% within Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or technical field, along with 5+ years of engineering or technical experience, or 7 years of relevant experience.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely.
• Understanding of Radio Frequency Engineering principles.
• Knowledge of Land / Mobile Radio Engineering principles.
• Familiarity with RFDS principles, including antenna and cable selection, transmit combiners, receive multi-couplers, and lightning protection systems.
• Proficiency in P25 Land Mobile Radio terminology and two-way subscriber radio provisioning techniques.
• Experience with servers and associated systems such as VMware ESXI, Linux, and Microsoft operating systems.
• Expertise in constructing remote communication sites, encompassing site selection, grounding, compound development, and tower and shelter specifications.
• Knowledge of Fortinet and Juniper firewalls; Nokia 7705 series routers; Juniper SRX/MX (Junos) series routers; HP/Aruba and Juniper switches.
• Capability for remote access utilizing SSH, SCP, SFTP, and RDP.
• Experience with point-to-point Microwave systems and Microwave RF & Network design.
• Familiarity with FCC licensing and frequency searching.
• Understanding of software applications integration, API concepts, computer operating systems, and the OSI model.
• Proficiency in networking protocols and devices including RSVP-TE, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, SIP, RTP, SNMP, NAT, routers, switches, and stateful packet firewalls.
• Physical-layer knowledge of fiber, copper, and microwave technologies.
• Competence in IP networking, network design strategies, and troubleshooting, covering Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, and MPLS.
• Must be self-motivated, possess strong written and verbal communication abilities, and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills.
