Senior Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary escalation point for issues related to infrastructure, identity, and platforms.

• Resolve complex, multi-system challenges by identifying their root causes.

• Design, construct, and sustain Windows Server, virtualization, storage, and Azure infrastructure.

• Convert requirements into design specifications, build documents, configuration standards, and reference patterns.

• Assess emerging technologies and provide documented recommendations.

• Conduct capacity analysis, lifecycle planning, and growth forecasting.

• Manage Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, conditional access, and privileged access configurations.

• Design and oversee Azure subscriptions, networking, compute, storage, and governance controls.

• Engineer and support Microsoft 365 workloads including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, and Purview.

• Ensure tenant separation, delegation models, and administrative boundaries in a multi-client setting.

• Create, implement, and test backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Strengthen systems, address vulnerabilities and configuration drifts, and maintain patching, monitoring, alerting, and logging.

• Generate HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC 2 technical documentation and control artifacts.

• Engage in infrastructure and security incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective measures.

• Execute changes through a formal change management process, including risk assessment, testing, rollback planning, and validation.

• Provide support for major incidents outside of regular business hours as part of an on-call rotation.

• Automate administrative and deployment tasks using PowerShell and infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Create and maintain runbooks, build documents, as-built records, and infrastructure diagrams.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship without having direct reporting authority.

• Collaborate with Implementation, IT Management, Security, and Applications teams.

• Facilitate client-facing technical discussions that require senior infrastructure expertise.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience is also acceptable.

• A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or enterprise IT operations.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Windows Server administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.

• Significant hands-on experience with VMware or Hyper-V virtualization technologies.

• Production experience managing Azure infrastructure and Microsoft 365 administration at scale.

• Proven experience in designing and testing backup and disaster recovery solutions for production systems.

• Familiarity with formal change management processes and senior escalation responsibilities.

• Must reside within a HOPCo corporate or clinical market.

• Capability to participate in an on-call rotation and perform after-hours and weekend maintenance.

• Proficient in documenting work to an audit-ready standard.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.

• Knowledge of Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, identity and access management, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, Azure, Microsoft 365, networking, security, vulnerability management, patching, PowerShell, infrastructure-as-code, IT service management, HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC 2.

• Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 certifications, VMware or Hyper-V credentials, and ITIL Foundation certifications are preferred.

• Experience in managed services or multi-client environments is preferred.

• Strong preference for candidates with healthcare IT experience.
