Embedded Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Evaluate current PLC-based solutions and legacy systems to pinpoint opportunities for modernization.

• Assist in re-architecture projects aimed at transitioning outdated PLC-centric systems to contemporary technology frameworks.

• Transform monolithic and inadequately documented legacy code into modular and reusable architectures.

• Utilize object-oriented programming principles within modern industrial automation settings.

• Enhance memory mapping, user-defined data types (UDTs), and tag structures for improved maintainability and performance.

• Design and execute standardized state-machine methodologies, including models based on PackML.

• Collaborate with Wind River and customer stakeholders to gather technical requirements and migration goals.

• Participate in system integration, design evaluations, modernization planning, and providing technical recommendations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 2 years of experience in PLC development or industrial automation.

• Comprehensive understanding of PLC programming concepts and industrial control systems.

• Practical experience with at least one major PLC ecosystem, such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Beckhoff, or Schneider Electric.

• Background in analyzing and modernizing legacy industrial systems.

• Familiarity with software architecture, refactoring methodologies, and migration projects.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities and skills in system integration.

• Upper-Intermediate English proficiency or above.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within international and cross-functional teams.

• Experience with PLCopen standards and related tools is a plus.

• Knowledge of object-oriented design principles is a plus.

• Familiarity with industrial software modernization or digital transformation programs is a plus.

• Background in the automotive sector is a plus.

• Experience with Object-Oriented Industrial Programming in TwinCAT, CODESYS, or similar platforms is a plus.
