Principal Engineer – Systems Protection, Relay Settings

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Design, specify, calculate settings, and coordinate protective relays along with relay control schemes.

• Conduct modeling, short circuit analyses, and overstressed breaker studies.

• Create protective relaying recommendations for proposed generation interconnections to clients’ electrical systems.

• Ensure that relay settings activities, initiatives, and processes align with company policies, objectives, and client design standards.

• Present technical solutions to key customers, address technical concerns in real-time, and respond to inquiries.

• Collaborate with Qualus groups and individuals to develop and implement technical solutions that support the objectives of the Engineering Department.

• Provide support for multiple projects simultaneously.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a focus on power systems; an MS Degree in engineering may be accepted in place of the BS Engineering degree.

• International Engineering Degrees from an ABET accredited institution will be considered.

• Over 12 years of experience in protection and control engineering and relay settings.

• Proven experience with CAPE and/or ASPEN software.

• A Professional Engineering (PE) registration is mandatory.

• A Professional Engineering registration in the working state is advantageous.

• Strong analytical and computer skills are essential.

• Capability to identify the necessary software for completing required design work.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.

• Ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of support personnel.

• A strong commitment to customer service and support is crucial.

• Highly motivated and self-driven individual.

• Proven ability to multitask effectively.

• Exceptional document management and organizational skills are required.

• Familiarity with CYME, reclosers/sectionalizing schemes, and fuse coordination is preferred.
