This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to create advanced multi-function RF, processing, networking, and/or data storage units tailored for space applications.
• Take the lead on systems engineering initiatives for assigned programs, which include systems analysis, management of the technical baseline, requirements development, verification, and validation.
• Act as the technical authority for systems engineering activities.
• Represent the systems engineering function during both internal meetings and customer engagements.
• Prepare for and participate in significant internal and customer design reviews.
• Provide support for IR&D and new product development efforts with systems engineering expertise.
• Assist in proposal efforts for new business opportunities.
• Collaborate with program managers and project chief engineers to ensure the effective execution of programs.
• Offer systems engineering leadership and guidance to program teams.
• Be prepared to travel to the corporate headquarters in Fairfax, VA as needed, up to 25% of the time.
• Execute other duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 4 years with a master's degree.
• Proven experience in leading the development and delivery of complex spaceflight or aerospace hardware from concept through qualification, production, and customer delivery.
• Strong technical knowledge in one or more engineering disciplines.
• Skilled in applying systems engineering methodologies to product design and development.
• Capability to balance technical performance with program cost and scheduling objectives.
• Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.
• A Master's degree in a STEM field is preferred.
• Experience with software-defined systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with space industry product development life cycles is preferred.
• Experience in high-reliability, high-survivability, and/or space-environment applications is preferred.
• Background in complex electronics product design, including PCBAs, mechanical structures, mission software, and FPGA firmware is preferred.
• Experience with Xilinx devices, specifically Zynq UltraScale+ or Versal architecture is preferred.
• Knowledge of VPX standards (VITA 46 and VITA 65) and embedded hardware implementation is preferred.
• Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, PCB routing, high-speed data design, mixed-signal analysis/design, and signal integrity analysis is preferred.
• Experience in signal processing and/or algorithm development is preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as PSpice, LTspice, Altium, SOLIDWORKS, and Keysight ADS is preferred.
• Familiarity with systems engineering tools such as STK, MATLAB Simulink, requirements management/databases, and MBSE is preferred.
• Knowledge of one or more OSI model levels and networking protocols is preferred.
