This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Collaborate with the Design team to create cutting-edge unmanned systems for both defense and commercial sectors.
• Engage with Controls Engineers to assign requirements and develop architectures that facilitate simulation models.
• Play an integral role in requirements definition, concept design, prototyping, detailed design, validation, and verification testing.
• Oversee the traceability and evolution of requirements throughout the system development lifecycle.
• Deliver weekly updates on the progress of system development along with requirements burn down.
• Assign requirements to subsystems and synchronize engineering activities.
• Assess system performance thresholds and provide guidance accordingly.
• Collaborate with Senior Staff Engineers to develop instrumented flight test vectors and manage data acquisition.
• Contribute to model development and simulation analysis.
• Analyze and interpret customer specifications.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate weaknesses in system design.
• Contribute to the architectural frameworks utilized across multiple products or systems.
• Choose appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve desired outcomes.
• Establish methods and procedures for new assignments and may oversee the activities of other personnel as Team Lead.
• Create systems test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Develop Systems Safety protocols and ensure the safety of personnel during field testing.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 8–12 years of experience in a systems engineering role; experience in aerospace systems engineering is preferred.
• Required proficiency in C/C++ and Matlab.
• Experience in managing requirements traceability and evolution throughout the system development cycle.
• Experience in providing weekly status updates on system development along with requirements burn down.
• Experience in allocating requirements to subsystems and coordinating engineering activities.
• Expertise in evaluating system performance thresholds and offering direction.
• Experience in developing instrumented flight test vectors and managing data acquisition.
• Experience in contributing to model development and simulation analysis.
• Strong Matlab skills along with proficiency in office software and computer-based productivity tools.
• Familiarity with electronics and systems related to image collection and analysis.
• Experience in developing systems test plans, procedures, and reports, as well as reviewing and interpreting specifications.
• Experience in writing Systems Safety protocols and ensuring personnel safety during field testing.
• Ability to work in both office and manufacturing settings.
• Capability to sit and stand for extended periods while using computers and telephones.
• ITAR/EAR eligibility as a U.S. person or the ability to secure an export license; some positions may require current U.S. citizenship.
• An advanced degree is preferred.
• Experience in taking a product from concept to production with contract manufacturers is advantageous.
• Exposure to Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems, Modeling Simulation & Control, and Model-Based Systems Engineering is beneficial but not essential.
• Knowledge of Simulink, Ansys, and Solidworks is preferred.
• Interest in developing architectures using Model Based Engineering tools.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
