System Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, install, and configure servers, operating systems, and system software.

• Maintain development, testing, and production environments.

• Implement patches, updates, and security hardening procedures.

• Monitor system performance and address infrastructure challenges.

• Automate system tasks and deployments using scripts and configuration tools.

• Assist with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.

• Keep system documentation and diagrams up to date.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering or administration.

• Proficiency in Linux and Windows Server environments.

• Familiarity with virtualization or cloud platforms like VMware, AWS, or Azure.

• Experience in scripting with shell, PowerShell, or Python.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

• Capability to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, scanners, and printers.

• Preferred: Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, RHCE, or AWS/Azure certifications.

• Preferred: Experience with configuration tools such as Ansible or Terraform.

• Preferred: Background in supporting federal government contracts.
