IT Systems Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop, support, and enhance Thumbtack’s internal systems.

• Address incoming IT Infrastructure requests from the organization.

• Manage and resolve escalations from the IT Support team.

• Administer key tools such as Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian, Slack, Claude, and GitHub.

• Implement and sustain integrations with various platforms and tools.

• Diagnose complex technical issues and document processes accordingly.

• Define and implement SSO and other integrations.

• Configure SaaS tools and utilize automation to enhance inefficient business processes.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system design, automation, and AI tools.

• Oversee data, security, and legal governance processes.

• Ensure compliance with security standards, including least-privilege access, patching, two-factor authentication, and VPN.

• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot advanced issues.

• Participate in on-call rotations for critical components and changes.

• Drive and contribute to technology projects that focus on delivering business value.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in IT systems engineering within a distributed, enterprise IT environment.

• Demonstrated expertise in administering tools like Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian, GitHub, Claude, and Slack.

• Experience managing infrastructure as code with tools such as Terraform or GitOps.

• An AI-first mindset, including enabling tools like Claude and ChatGPT for colleagues and integrating them into workflows.

• Skilled in creating automations using Okta Workflows, Jira Automations, and Slack Workflows.

• Strong knowledge of identity access management systems, services, and protocols: SAML, SCIM, LDAP, OAuth2.0/OIDC.

• Some proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Python (preferred) and Shell.

• Understanding of security and compliance methodologies and practices.

• Experience with security incident response processes and tools.
