Senior Systems Engineer – AI Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the technical architecture authority for the platforms team, responsible for reference architectures, design patterns, environment topology, and platform standards.

• Review and approve technical designs, integration proposals, and significant configuration modifications.

• Assess tools and vendor releases for their technical suitability, security, scalability, and supportability.

• Manage platform governance, change control, upgrade planning, capacity, resiliency, and technical debt strategies.

• Oversee and configure Alteryx Server and KNIME Server or Business Hub environments.

• Administer Windows and Linux servers as well as cloud infrastructure, which includes compute, storage, networking, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, certificates, capacity, and cost optimization.

• Design and implement integrations for data sources, APIs, service-to-service communications, identity management, and security.

• Oversee single sign-on (SSO) and access architecture, including SAML, OIDC, SCIM, security groups, and role-based access control (RBAC).

• Define and uphold platform security standards and processes for vulnerability remediation.

• Develop production-grade automation in Python and PowerShell for provisioning, deployments, configuration, health checks, credential rotation, and reporting.

• Implement infrastructure-as-code methodologies, Git, peer reviews, testing, secrets management, logging, and error handling.

• Manage the developer experience and onboarding for OpenAI API, Claude API, and approved agentic coding tools.

• Create and publish documentation, reference implementations, starter templates, SDK/retry patterns, and environment guidance.

• Provide Tier 2 technical support during U.S. hours and manage complex incidents to identify root causes.

• Handle vendor escalations with Alteryx, KNIME, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic.

• Maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, diagrams, and as-built documentation.

• Mentor associates, facilitate cross-skilling of teammates, and collaborate with identity, security, networking, infrastructure, and peer engineering teams.

• Adapt to adjacent technologies and undertake related responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a related technical discipline is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in systems, platform, or infrastructure engineering is required.

• Direct experience in server administration of enterprise analytics or data science platforms such as Alteryx Server and KNIME Server or Business Hub.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure ownership and enterprise single sign-on (SSO) and directory integrations.

• Proven track record as a technical design authority for a platform estate.

• Demonstrated history of automating manual operational tasks.

• Familiarity with Alteryx Server and KNIME Server or Business Hub, or similar enterprise analytics platforms.

• Strong expertise in Windows Server and Linux administration.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure or AWS, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, and infrastructure-as-code.

• Knowledge in identity and access engineering including SAML 2.0, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SCIM, Microsoft Entra ID or Okta, conditional access, security groups, and RBAC.

• Understanding of database connectivity, ODBC/JDBC drivers, service accounts, secrets management, TLS, certificate lifecycle, hardening, vulnerability remediation, and REST APIs.

• Advanced scripting and automation skills in Python and PowerShell.

• Proficiency with Git, Terraform or Bicep, CI/CD pipelines, Postman, curl, and log/trace analysis.

• Strong skills in architecture, technical documentation, and runbook authoring.

• Proficiency in English is required.

• Ability to work during U.S. hours and collaborate with distributed teams across various time zones.

• Preferred certifications include Alteryx Server, KNIME Server or Business Hub, Microsoft AZ-104 or AZ-305, AWS Solutions Architect, SC-300, or CompTIA Security+.
