This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Design and manage integrated power generation system architectures from generator terminals to transmission interconnection facilities.
• Direct the technical definition and integration of power generation assets, including gas turbines, generators, GSUs, isolated phase bus systems, HV/LV electrical equipment, substations, and protection and control systems, as well as STATCOMs, BESS, and auxiliary plant systems.
• Define system requirements, establish architecture baselines, interface definitions, and design standards for power generation and industrial electrification projects.
• Develop solution validation strategies, requirements traceability, verification plans, FAT, SAT, commissioning milestones, and performance validation criteria.
• Oversee equipment coordination and system integration across various engineering disciplines.
• Assist in and review power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, grounding, protection coordination, transient stability, harmonics, and arc flash analyses.
• Convert customer availability, reliability, SLA, MTBF, and operational performance needs into electrical system architecture and design requirements.
• Spearhead technical risk identification, interface management, and integration planning throughout proposal development, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Act as the primary technical coordinator among GE Vernova business units.
• Contribute to business development by assessing technical scope, defining solution architectures, evaluating risks, and aiding in customer presentations and proposals.
• Create and standardize reference architectures for data centers, industrial facilities, microgrids, hybrid generation plants, and utility-scale power generation sites.
• Lead customer-facing technical workshops and architecture evaluations.
• Provide executive-level guidance on system design, reliability, and integration strategies.
• Facilitate requirements validation and commissioning to meet system performance goals and customer acceptance criteria.
• Offer technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams.
• Coordinate requirements testing, system validation, and integrated solution reviews with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in power generation, electric utility systems, EPC projects, transmission and distribution engineering, or related electrical infrastructure roles.
• At least 7 years of engineering experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated success in delivering high-value technical solutions for complex energy projects.
• Over 5 years of experience in presenting technical solutions, including at least 3 years directly interacting with executive leadership, utility representatives, EPC contractors, and regulatory stakeholders.
• More than 5 years of experience managing complex technical initiatives, with proven success in at least 3 large-scale projects as an individual contributor, technical lead, or project manager.
• Over 7 years of experience with utility-scale power generation systems, transmission and distribution equipment, and grid interconnection requirements.
• At least 5 years of experience managing system requirements, interface control, and verification and validation (V&V) processes for complex engineering systems.
• More than 5 years of experience applying and interpreting IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NERC, FERC, and NFPA standards in a professional setting.
• Willingness and ability to travel at least 25% of the time.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Successful completion of a drug screen, if applicable.
• An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Ability to lead, inspire, influence, and mentor individuals and engineering teams across various organizations.
• Direct experience with utility-scale power generation plants, data center power systems, industrial electrification projects, hybrid generation systems, or microgrid applications.
• In-depth understanding of electrical selectivity, protective relay coordination, PLC/SCADA systems, DCS integration, and IEC 61850 architectures.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements management tools, and systems validation methodologies.
• General knowledge of technical regulatory standards, utility interconnection requirements, grid code compliance evaluation, testing, and reporting.
• Experience in supporting commissioning, startup, operational readiness, and performance validation activities for power generation facilities.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing reference architectures and repeatable technical solutions across numerous customer applications.
• Strong knowledge of power plant reliability, maintainability, availability analysis, and lifecycle asset management principles.
