Hybrid Powertrain System Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop a system design that meets airworthiness standards for a hybrid powertrain.

• Specify and validate requirements at both the system and equipment levels.

• Lead technical discussions within the organization and with external suppliers.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams focused on propulsion, energy distribution, and aircraft design.

• Design test facilities, benches, and data acquisition systems for a hybrid aircraft powertrain.

• Plan, execute, and assess test series for performance evaluation.

• Assist in the design, development, commissioning, and operation of the powertrain test bench.

• Oversee powertrain testing campaigns, ensuring they are conducted safely and efficiently.

• Spearhead system design and integration of hybrid powertrains for next-generation aircraft.

• Convert program requirements into solid, certifiable system architectures.

• Negotiate and assess technical solutions alongside engineering teams and external suppliers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with conventional components in hybrid powertrains, such as piston engines and gas turbines.

• Proven track record in leading and executing verification and validation campaigns for electric and hybrid aircraft propulsion systems.

• Familiarity with high-voltage systems (HV Training) is essential.

• Practical experience in aerospace development following ARP4754B guidelines.

• Solid understanding of safety-critical development processes.

• Proficient in managing certification requirements.

• Experience in planning, conducting, and coordinating V&V activities in line with ARP4754B.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to ensure tasks are completed effectively.

• Basic understanding of high-voltage components and lithium-ion batteries.

• Basic knowledge of EASA/FAA regulations, guidance materials, and industry standards for eVTOL development.

• Familiarity with requirements management tools.
