This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Lead and execute structural design and analysis for various hyperscale and colocation data center facilities.
• Create design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, and both deep and shallow foundations.
• Coordinate design outputs with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams.
• Supervise the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and calculations.
• Ensure quality assurance, compliance with codes, and technical excellence.
• Offer mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Interact with clients, contractors, and review authorities regarding technical queries and design clarifications.
• Support business development, proposal writing, and conceptual structural design for new initiatives.
• Occasionally travel for client meetings, site visits, project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, and other essential business activities.
• Collaborate with global AECOM teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects for international clients.
• Conduct hands-on, client-facing structural engineering tasks.
• Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant professional experience in building structures design and analysis, or equivalent experience and/or education in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• Licensed U.S. Professional Engineer (PE or SE).
• Experience in data centers, mission-critical projects, or large-scale logistics/industrial facilities.
• Proficiency in BIM ACC (Revit), ETABS, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, etc.
• Experience with precast concrete systems, steel design, seismic design, and foundation systems.
• Proven experience with low embodied carbon materials and sustainable structural design methodologies.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with data center facilities and knowledge of data center-specific design standards and structural resiliency requirements.
• LEED, Envision, or active involvement in SE 2050 implementation is preferred.
• Expertise in low embodied carbon materials, sustainable structural systems, and emerging industry best practices is preferred.
• Strong communication, coordination, and leadership abilities.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams.
• Ability to interpret and apply national and local building codes.
• Occasional travel as necessary.
• Must participate in in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office.
