Senior Structural Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct design evaluations of civil and structural design elements to support bid and construction packages for substation projects.

• Oversee projects as a senior engineer.

• Execute design assessments of steel and concrete structures, foundations, rigid bus systems, oil spill containment systems, retaining walls, control shelters, and fire-walls.

• Mentor and develop junior staff members.

• Design and evaluate structures and foundations subjected to seismic loading conditions.

• Visit client substation facilities as required.

• Travel occasionally for client meetings and industry-related events.

• Collaborate as a senior member of a design team that includes engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the utility industry, working directly for a utility or consulting firm, focusing on design engineering and reviews.

• Solid educational background in the design of steel structures, concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations.

• Proficient in reviewing designs for substation structures, rigid bus systems, foundations, oil spill containment systems, retaining walls, concrete and masonry control shelters, and fire-walls.

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil-Structural Engineering with over 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree (MS) with at least 3 years of applicable experience.

• PE License is preferred in California, Washington, Oregon, or the ability to obtain licensure in these states within 3-12 months.

• SE licensure is preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MATHCAD software.

• Experienced with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, FAD, SAG10, and LPile software.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation.

• Exceptional analytical and technical writing skills.

• Strong communication skills with clients and team members.

• Ability to adhere to quality control and safe work practices while ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
