This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.
• Conduct site analyses and planning, develop site layouts, implement erosion control measures, manage grading, oversee stormwater management, and design utilities.
• Collaborate with professional staff, clients, contractors, local government representatives, and regulatory bodies.
• Assist projects from their conceptual and design stages through regulatory reviews, permitting processes, and construction phases.
• Communicate with clients regarding project needs, concept and design development, and presentations of design work.
• Investigate site requirements with local authorities.
• Take part in site visits and carry out field measurements.
• Coordinate with project teams, various disciplines, and sub-consultants on issues related to drainage, traffic, water and wastewater, utilities, surveying, and land use.
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, and final documents for submission to clients.
• Delegate tasks and coordinate with technicians or administrative personnel.
• Meet with contractors for construction administration and provide clarifications on design matters.
• Review civil drawings submitted by external civil engineering firms.
• Aid in project management, contracting, scheduling, and communication with consultants.
• Facilitate construction administration activities on behalf of clients.
• Perform field inspections and evaluate contractor schedules and progress.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the engineering sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in at least one U.S. state.
• Preferred membership in the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
• Familiarity with municipal, state, and federal regulations affecting site development.
• Understanding of the site permitting process and project scheduling timelines.
• Capability to interpret relevant codes and effectively communicate with code officials.
• Proficiency in AutoDesk products, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Competence in using the Microsoft Office suite.
• Willingness to travel to sites and navigate uneven or undeveloped terrain.
• Strong communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to visually survey, measure, and evaluate project sites and construction activities.
• Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
