Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Lead, guide, and direct functional responsibilities along with enterprise-wide functional strategy.

• Advise RHM, Region, service area, and functional area leaders on strategies and performance objectives.

• Foster collaboration across service areas, RHMs, and Regions.

• Spearhead initiatives for standardization, systemness, optimization, policy, process, and methodology.

• Oversee vendor and contract labor management by centralizing strategy and optimizing expenditures.

• Collaborate on the development and deployment of system-wide strategies along with functional priorities.

• Support regional compliance with priorities in the functional area.

• Select, evaluate, and supervise functional leadership teams.

• Establish functional strategies and governance over financials and staffing.

• Measure and report on KPIs, metrics, and value delivery.

• Lead intricate strategic sourcing initiatives and competitive sourcing processes.

• Conduct high-value contract negotiations while managing project risks.

• Lead cross-functional teams across Trinity Health and Regional Health Ministries.

• Develop and implement strategic commodity plans.

• Maintain relationships with suppliers and group purchasing organizations (GPO).

• Negotiate supplier terms, collaborate with legal on contracts, monitor supplier performance, and conduct business reviews.

• Drive system contract compliance and optimize national, custom, and Trinity Health purchasing agreements.

• Analyze supply markets, spending, demand forecasts, supplier risks, and total cost of ownership.

• Support annual business planning and provide budget guidance.

• Collect, clean, validate, and analyze extensive datasets.

• Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations utilizing Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar tools.

• Perform ad-hoc analysis and offer actionable recommendations.

• Lead enterprise spend management across assigned categories.

• Manage RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes, which include analysis and negotiations.

• Develop and communicate sourcing strategies with senior management and key stakeholders.

• Direct personnel and financial activities within assigned functional areas.

• Set priorities and goals for the sourcing team.

• Conduct annual reviews, manage performance issues, and support colleague career development.

• Hire, orient, manage, promote, discipline, and terminate direct reports.

• Represent the Strategic Sourcing Director as necessary.

• Promote lean/process excellence and spearhead productivity initiatives.

• Engage with suppliers legally, ethically, and in accordance with Trinity Health policies.

• Plan, manage, and oversee complex medium and large sourcing projects.

• Review, redline, and draft contract language in collaboration with legal counsel.

• Ensure the adoption of strategic sourcing and contract lifecycle management systems.

• Partner with Finance to verify forecasted savings.

• Ensure effective contract handoff and implementation.

• Monitor supplier performance against scorecards and resolve service issues.

• Establish comprehensive sourcing procedures for assigned products and services.

• Perform other duties as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, supply chain management, a portfolio-specific clinical discipline, or a related field, along with seven (7+) years of progressively responsible experience in a multi-entity and multi-level organization, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

• Leadership experience is essential.

• Extensive knowledge of strategic sourcing and contract portfolios.

• Proven ability to perform complex financial analysis.

• Advanced proficiency in data analytics and procurement practices.

• Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar applications.

• Experience in vendor relationships and market analysis for trends.

• Capability to develop work plans and lead sourcing professionals.

• Ability to translate category insights into sourcing strategies and measurable business outcomes.

• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing/Operations and technical problem-solving concepts and techniques.

• Project management skills from initiation through to completion.

• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, consultation, and communication abilities.

• Ability to engage physicians, executives, and individuals at all organizational levels to influence and drive results.

• Capability to address conflict and challenge conventional thinking.

• Strategic thinking and cost analysis skills with a solid grasp of financial management concepts.

• Ability to identify issues and devise viable solutions.

• Proficiency in executing complex analyses, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Economic Value to Customer (EVC), and Net Present Value (NPV).

• Excellent organizational, planning, and project management abilities.

• Knowledge of supplier bases and relevant market trends.

• Familiarity with contract law and governing regulations.

• Ability to work collaboratively with internal legal counsel.

• Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision while managing priorities.

• Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities.

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and capacity to communicate complex findings clearly.

• A master's degree in a related field is preferred.

• Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
