Senior Staff Software Engineer, Tech Foundations

📋 Description

• Establish a comprehensive roadmap that outlines a long-term vision for Reliability while acting as a strategic thought partner.

• Design, execute, and influence SRE architecture, innovation, engineering, and standards across the organization.

• Develop scalable incident management processes to minimize operational toil.

• Promote the SRE/Reliability framework within the engineering culture.

• Enhance infrastructure and platforms to ensure high availability and performance.

• Create Production Readiness standards and automate/configure systems as code.

• Anticipate potential failures and implement proactive mitigation strategies.

• Apply reliable design patterns, including circuit breakers and graceful degradation.

• Cultivate a culture of proactive reliability and enhance tooling utilization.

• Collaborate with engineering leaders and product engineering teams on large-scale distributed systems.

• Extract lessons from incidents through blameless postmortems.

• Mentor and guide Site Reliability Engineers using servant leadership, mentorship, advocacy, and allyship.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Over 12 years of software engineering experience, with a significant focus on system architecture and design in consumer-facing technology firms.

• More than 5 years of experience in a senior-level technical lead or architect role, influencing technical direction and strategy across various teams or projects.

• Strong leadership capabilities.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.

• Proven history of effective collaboration across teams and organizations.

• Expertise in designing and scaling high-availability systems and platforms.

• In-depth knowledge of multi-cloud environments.

• Active involvement in coding and/or architecture/design contributions.
