Senior Staff Software Engineer, Institutional Exchange

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the technical strategy and architecture for a fundamental Exchange domain.

• Propel multi-quarter initiatives from uncertainty through incremental milestones to successful delivery.

• Lead the design of ultra-low-latency, event-sourced trading systems that encompass matching, risk, and market data in both cloud and colocated environments.

• Foster technical alignment across Exchange, Prime, and Derivatives teams.

• Obtain commitments from senior engineering and product leadership.

• Establish and evaluate quality standards across teams, including deterministic testing, failover design, incident management, and operational standards for 24/7 markets.

• Continue to make substantial hands-on contributions while guiding execution through senior engineers and tech leads.

• Mentor L5-L6 engineers and cultivate technical leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of software engineering experience, with substantial ownership of production trading, exchange, or market-data systems at scale.

• Extensive knowledge in low-latency distributed systems.

• Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, C++, or Go.

• Expertise in JVM/Linux performance optimization.

• Proven architectural ownership of an end-to-end trading platform, including order management, multi-venue connectivity, and real-time risk.

• A demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams without direct authority.

• Experience managing latency-sensitive systems in on-premises/colocated and cloud environments.

• Familiarity with incident command and safe production changes.

• A genuine interest in cryptocurrency and institutional markets, with a capacity to adapt quickly.

• Responsible use of generative AI under human oversight.
