Senior Staff Software Engineer, Finhub

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Establish and guide FinHub’s multi-quarter technical vision for the ledger and money-movement platform.

• Design reusable components that facilitate both fiat and crypto fund flows, encompassing balances, holds, settlements, postings, transfers, and transaction history.

• Spearhead the rearchitecture of distributed financial processes and state transitions.

• Implement standards for double-entry accounting, idempotency, invariant enforcement, reconciliation, auditability, and secure failure recovery.

• Lead the comprehensive design and implementation of significant cross-team initiatives.

• Decompose intricate problems into actionable milestones, migration strategies, and measurable results.

• Collaborate with Payments, Product, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Operations teams.

• Offer in-depth technical mentorship to senior and staff engineers.

• Elevate standards for system architecture, operational excellence, technical documentation, and maintainability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience in software engineering.

• Proven history of developing and managing large-scale backend distributed systems in a production environment.

• Extensive experience in designing financial, payments, ledger, banking, trading, or other high-stakes transaction systems.

• Proficiency in distributed systems, consistency models, asynchronous workflows, and state machines.

• Strong backend programming skills in Go, Java, or Python.

• Experience in driving multi-quarter technical strategies.

• Background in leading complex architectural projects across various engineering teams without direct authority.

• Ability to articulate complex technical trade-offs and foster alignment with executive, engineering, product, finance, and operations stakeholders.

• Responsible use of generative AI with human supervision.
