Senior Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Deliver senior technical guidance across various engineering teams, systems, and business sectors.

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.

• Oversee intricate cross-functional technical projects from initial discovery and design to delivery and production operation.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Customer Experience, and other business stakeholders.

• Design and direct backend services, APIs, integrations, platform capabilities, and distributed systems.

• Enhance reliability, scalability, performance, observability, maintainability, cost efficiency, and developer productivity.

• Shape technical strategy, roadmap planning, architectural standards, and prioritization efforts.

• Establish engineering best practices in areas such as code quality, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, documentation, security, and operational excellence.

• Mentor Staff Engineers, senior engineers, and technical leads.

• Navigate trade-offs involving speed, quality, scalability, reliability, security, cost, and maintainability.

• Lead or assist in the modernization of legacy and contemporary systems, platforms, and integrations.

• Contribute to systems that support customer communications, telephony, contact center workflows, servicing platforms, and enterprise integrations.

• Engage in production support, incident reviews, root-cause analysis, and enhancements in reliability.

• Identify practical applications for AI-assisted engineering tools and automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Extensive experience in designing, building, and managing large-scale distributed systems.

• Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple teams or complex technical fields.

• Strong background in backend services, APIs, integrations, data flows, and cloud architectures.

• Proficient in one or more modern programming languages, including Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin, or similar.

• Comprehensive knowledge of system design, software architecture, scalability, reliability, observability, security, and operational excellence.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

• Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, logging, alerting, and production operations.

• Capability to influence technical direction and foster alignment without depending on direct authority.

• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience in mentoring senior engineers and enhancing technical execution.

• A strong ownership mindset with experience driving ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives to successful completion.

• Preferred experience with telephony, contact center platforms, IVR, call routing, voice systems, customer communications, or customer engagement technologies.

• Preferred experience with Twilio, Amazon Connect, Genesys, Five9, NICE, Cisco, Avaya, or similar technologies.

• Preferred experience in integrating third-party SaaS platforms, vendor APIs, or enterprise systems.

• Preferred experience in fintech, financial services, lending, risk, servicing, collections, customer support, or regulated environments.

• Preferred experience in modernizing legacy systems and enhancing the reliability of business-critical platforms.

• Preferred experience in evaluating emerging technologies and applying them effectively.

• Preferred experience utilizing AI-enabled engineering tools, copilots, automation platforms, or intelligent productivity solutions.

• Preferred judgment regarding the responsible use of AI-assisted solutions in enterprise settings.
