Principal Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance core services by delivering new features and ensuring reliability, including customer intake, application screening, and information dissemination channels.

• Detect significant system bottlenecks and business-logic issues, and take proactive measures to resolve them.

• Take ownership of core product challenges, devise solutions, and validate their impact using data at scale.

• Operate across the entire technology stack without depending on other engineers or teams to accomplish tasks.

• Lead a team of developers in creating software solutions for intricate user problems.

• Effectively communicate technical decisions and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where ideas are freely shared and critically evaluated.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

• Expert proficiency in at least one modern programming language (such as Java, Python, or comparable languages).

• Strong proficiency in most language constructs, with the ability to apply them to complex challenges.

• Demonstrated capability to design and implement distributed systems, encompassing storage, caching, and application layers.

• Knowledge of distributed-system failure modes.

• Proven experience with microservice architectures, particularly in high-throughput and low-latency systems.

• A portfolio showcasing system transformations, such as the use of strangler patterns for transitioning monoliths to microservices.

• Experience with complex, phased system migrations, including dark reads, dark writes, light reads, and light writes.

• Expert-level knowledge of cloud engineering paradigms, especially for high-scale asynchronous systems and secure service integration patterns.

• In-depth understanding of design patterns, reliability, and scaling principles.

• Strong skills in architectural and system design.

• Proven ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Experience in mentoring engineers, leading technical teams, or acting as a tech lead.

• Capacity to influence technical direction and advocate for sound engineering practices.

• History of learning and adapting to new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.

• Demonstrated use of AI and automation tools to boost productivity and engineering results.

• Comfortable with ambiguity and eager to explore new problem domains.

• No certification required.

• US citizenship is not a prerequisite.
