Senior Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and take ownership of full-stack software platforms that support enterprise infrastructure and operations teams.

• Lead the technical architecture of systems that ingest, process, analyze, and expose infrastructure and operational data at scale.

• Create backend services and APIs for the purposes of data collection, enhancement, and querying.

• Develop and maintain web interfaces featuring advanced search, filtering, and usability designed for technical users.

• Design and execute ETL and data processing pipelines for both structured and semi-structured data sources.

• Ensure that applications are completely containerized and ready for production using Docker and Kubernetes deployment models.

• Serve as a technical expert on system architecture, performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, security, and product stakeholders to develop solutions aligned with the long-term platform strategy.

• Establish and maintain engineering best practices regarding testing, code quality, documentation, and operational readiness.

• Review team designs and code, providing clear guidance and elevating the overall technical standards.

• Identify systemic problems, minimize technical debt, and proactively enhance platform scalability and developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as a Staff or Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, focusing on complex production systems.

• Demonstrated capability to work independently in unclear problem environments and drive solutions to fruition.

• Strong backend engineering expertise, including API design and data-intensive services.

• Experience in developing data-driven applications that involve ingestion, transformation, and analysis.

• Proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as C#, Python, Go, or Java.

• Strong SQL skills with experience in relational databases.

• Practical experience with Docker and the delivery of containerized applications.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems principles and cloud-native application design.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development practices.

• Excellent technical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to influence others without direct authority.

• Experience in designing and managing systems on Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar systems.

• Experience with ETL pipelines, analytics platforms, or operational data tooling.

• Exposure to cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.

• Background in building internal platforms or tools for infrastructure, SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering teams.

• Understanding of observability, cost optimization, reliability engineering, or infrastructure automation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Typically, 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of ownership over large or critical systems.
