Senior Staff Software Development Engineer

📋 Description

• Establish and guide the technical vision and architecture within the NHI Governance domain, including its integration with shared platform services.

• Take ownership of the most intricate, high-stakes, and cross-functional technical projects from conceptualization to delivery.

• Set the standards, interfaces, and agreements that various teams and products rely on, and promote their adoption.

• Collaborate with product, design, and fellow engineering leaders to ensure that the technical strategy aligns with the business objectives at BeyondTrust.

• Serve as a catalyst for improvement — mentoring staff and senior engineers, elevating the technical standards, and enhancing organizational development processes.

• Facilitate design reviews and make crucial decisions regarding build/buy and architectural trade-offs.

• Prioritize quality, security, observability, and performance as essential considerations throughout the domain.

• Clarify uncertainties on a broad scale, ensuring that the correct problems are identified, prioritized, and addressed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound expertise in architecting and delivering large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems.

• Advanced programming capabilities in C#, Go, TypeScript, Java, or other contemporary languages, with a strong command of API and distributed-systems design.

• Practical experience with Claude Code (or similar agentic AI coding tools) to swiftly design, build, and evaluate software, along with the discernment to establish the patterns, standards, and guidelines that other engineers will adhere to.

• A proven history of taking charge of architecture and technical direction across various teams or an entire domain.

• Robust, hands-on AWS proficiency in designing, hosting, and managing production applications at scale, including compute (e.g., EKS), networking, IAM, managed data stores, and well-informed scaling, reliability, and cost considerations.

• In-depth knowledge of CICD and practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).

• Experience in designing multi-tenant shared services utilized by other engineering teams.

• Familiarity with data modeling, exploration, and visualization at scale.

• Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to provide clarity and technical guidance in the face of significant ambiguity.

• Exceptional communication abilities, capable of influencing technical direction across teams and engaging with leadership.
