Senior Staff Engineer, GNC – BlueSky

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct research and create cutting-edge Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms for high-performance flight.

• Serve as a GNC Engineer within a dynamic, first-principles-oriented team.

• Challenge the limits of advanced technology for an innovative project.

• Adjust and enhance control systems both in simulation and real-world settings.

• Tackle intricate problems in a rapidly evolving environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering with an emphasis on Control Systems.

• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with a Master’s degree; or 4 years with a PhD; or equivalent work experience in vehicle dynamics modeling, flight controls, or simulation.

• Proficiency in C++ within a production environment.

• Experience utilizing Matlab and Simulink.

• In-depth understanding of aircraft dynamics and control, stability, and handling characteristics.

• Proven experience in tuning and optimizing control systems in both simulated and real-world environments.

• Capability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in a related engineering field with a specialization in Control Systems.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Modern Control Theory, including LQR/LQG, Adaptive Control, Robust Control, and Model Predictive Control (MPC).

• Preferred: Expertise in deriving linear aircraft state-space models from nonlinear motion equations.

• Preferred: Experience in designing or selecting servos, inertial navigation systems, air data units, and vision-based navigation systems.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Kalman Filters, system identification techniques, git, and continuous integration and delivery.
