This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Formulate a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the organization's objectives and product priorities.

• Ensure that architectural decisions for significant product initiatives are in harmony with set goals.

• Oversee incident management to guarantee service reliability.

• Establish and evaluate service level objectives.

• Maintain and update recovery plans as necessary.

• Enhance application observability and monitoring practices.

• Implement and supervise backend quality assurance and security measures.

• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure and resource allocation during peak usage periods.

• Refine CI/CD and code review workflows to boost productivity, efficiency, quality, and security.

• Assess the transition from a worker-based model to an event-driven architecture.

• Collaborate with squad developers on daily product tasks to share insights and methodologies.

• Contribute to technology and product initiatives actively.

• Diagnose and resolve unforeseen issues that impact business operations.

• Work alongside cross-functional business teams to pinpoint and convey technical limitations.

• Define and establish best practices and standards for backend and infrastructure technical excellence.

• Propel the development, reliability, and scalability of backend systems and infrastructure.

• Assist in unifying ZigZag’s post-purchase and returns products into a cohesive offering.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Staff Engineer specializing in backend and infrastructure.

• Extensive knowledge of cloud architecture and infrastructure, preferably GCP; Azure or AWS will also be considered.

• Strong proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

• Expertise in managing infrastructure with a focus on scalability and reliability.

• Experience handling incidents of varying types and impacts in a composed manner.

• Proficient in English.

• Proficiency in French is a plus.

• High eagerness and capability to share knowledge.

• Inquisitive and stays informed about industry trends and advancements.

• Solid background across various environments and products, along with the ability to navigate and optimize complex distributed systems is an advantage.

• Must currently reside in Portugal.

• Must possess the legal right to work in Portugal without requiring visa sponsorship.

• CV must be submitted in English.
