Senior Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance systems that consistently and efficiently handle tens of terabytes of data daily.

• Implement data-processing systems to tackle significant business challenges.

• Assess new technologies and set best-practice benchmarks alongside Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering teams.

• Create and optimize GCP workflows utilizing Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, GKE, and Airflow.

• Lead cross-departmental initiatives involving Data Science, Product, Legal, Policy, and Engineering stakeholders.

• Guide colleagues and foster engineering best practices throughout the Data Organization.

• Collaborate with Data Science to design and execute effective data abstractions.

• Respond to the changing demands of active Data Products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of combined experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Data Science, or Data Analyst positions.

• Profound knowledge in Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering.

• Familiarity with data tools in GCP, AWS, or Azure, including Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Dataflow (Apache Beam), or comparable technologies.

• Experience with Looker, Fivetran, Kubernetes/GKE, Airflow/Cloud Composer, and Terraform, or similar technologies.

• Advanced programming skills in SQL and Python.

• Strong foundation in software engineering principles, such as modularity, abstraction, data structures, and algorithms.

• Background as a tech lead, team lead, hands-on Data Engineering or Data Platform manager, or in a comparable leadership position.
