Lead Geospatial Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable cloud-based data solutions.

• Provide technical guidance and conduct code reviews for engineering teams to ensure quality, scalability, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and engineering teams to convert business requirements into technical solutions.

• Direct technical decision-making processes regarding data ingestion, transformation, storage, and integration.

• Assist in solutions that involve geospatial, imagery, and enterprise data platforms.

• Work alongside cross-functional teams to assess tools, technologies, and implementation strategies.

• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices across various projects.

• Articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Engage in solution discovery, planning, estimation, and delivery tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10–15 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or other relevant technical fields.

• Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, and Azure cloud services.

• Familiarity with GIS technologies, geospatial data platforms, and Esri-based application ecosystems.

• Proven experience leading technical teams and managing enterprise-scale data projects.

• Experience in designing and implementing data pipelines, integrations, and cloud-native architectures.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Experience in utility, energy, or other asset-intensive sectors.

• Experience evaluating technical designs, implementation strategies, and engineering outputs.

• Preferred: background in computer vision, imagery, LiDAR, or similar large-scale image datasets.

• Preferred: consulting experience in a client-facing capacity.

• Preferred: experience in supporting enterprise modernization and cloud transformation projects.
