Senior Data Engineer, Scala

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Document and convey requirements for data engineers.

• Develop Scala code for the Claims Cost Measures Team.

• Utilize and create Python scripts for ETL processes and data analysis.

• Conduct data validation and execute SQL queries for data retrieval.

• Enhance data quality checks.

• Revise and improve data documentation.

• Liaise with external partners regarding requirements.

• Consistently script and analyze data.

• Employ JIRA and Confluence tools.

• Participate in Scrum ceremonies and testing meetings.

• Work during East Coast hours, with meetings potentially beginning at 9:00 AM Eastern Time.

• Take part in occasional in-person Program Increment Planning events.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Computer Science, IT, or a related field).

• Over 5 years of experience in software or data development.

• More than 3 years of hands-on coding experience in Scala or similar programming languages.

• At least 3 years of experience in a data engineering position.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience with any SQL dialect.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Must reside in the U.S., be authorized to work in the U.S., and perform all work within the U.S.

• Must have lived in the U.S. for three full years out of the last five years.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a capacity to work independently.

• Ability to take charge of analyses from clarifying requirements to delivering results.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a technical context.

• Ability to comprehend and convey the bigger picture while simplifying complex concepts.

• Capacity to identify and independently learn new techniques.
