Senior Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance systems to efficiently and reliably process data at the scale of tens of terabytes daily, applying these systems to tackle significant business challenges.

• Assess new technologies and collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering teams to implement them while establishing best-practice standards.

• Create and refine workflows in GCP utilizing Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, GKE, and Airflow.

• Lead cross-functional initiatives with stakeholders from Data Science, Product, Legal, Policy, and Engineering.

• Guide team members and foster engineering best practices throughout the Data Organization.

• Collaborate with Data Science to design and implement effective data abstractions.

• Respond to the evolving requirements of active Data Products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of combined experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Data Science, or Data Analyst roles.

• Extensive expertise in Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering.

• Familiarity with data tools in GCP, AWS, or Azure, including Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Dataflow (Apache Beam), or comparable technologies.

• Experience with Looker, Fivetran, Kubernetes/GKE, Airflow/Cloud Composer, and Terraform, or similar tools.

• Proficient coding skills in SQL and Python.

• Solid foundation in software engineering principles: modularity, abstraction, data structures, and algorithms.

• Background as a tech lead, team lead, hands-on Data Engineering or Data Platform manager, or in a similar leadership position.
