Senior Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance systems to effectively and reliably process data at a scale of tens of terabytes daily.

• Utilize data-processing systems to address significant business challenges.

• Assess new technologies and set best-practice standards in collaboration with Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering teams.

• Create and optimize workflows in GCP utilizing Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, GKE, and Airflow.

• Lead cross-functional initiatives involving Data Science, Product, Legal, Policy, and Engineering stakeholders.

• Mentor colleagues and foster engineering best practices throughout the Data Organization.

• Collaborate with Data Science to design and establish effective data abstractions.

• Respond to the changing demands of active Data Products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of cumulative experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Data Science, or Data Analyst roles.

• Comprehensive expertise in Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering.

• Familiarity with data tools in GCP, AWS, or Azure, including Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Dataflow (Apache Beam), or equivalent technologies.

• Knowledge of Looker, Fivetran, Kubernetes / GKE, Airflow / Cloud Composer, and Terraform, or similar technologies.

• Proficient coding abilities in SQL and Python.

• Solid grounding in software engineering principles: modularity, abstraction, data structures, and algorithms.

• Experience in a tech lead, team lead, hands-on Data Engineering, or Data Platform management role, or similar leadership capacity.
