Senior Staff Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead the technical direction for data pipelines and sharing functionalities utilized by all business divisions, encompassing both internal and external data accessibility.

• Foster innovation, implement best practices, enhance engineering and delivery speed, ensure platform scalability, and maintain operational excellence, performance, and resilience.

• Act as a visionary, influential, and hands-on technical leader, serving as a guiding light for fellow contributors.

• Write code in Python, SQL, Java, and/or Scala.

• Accelerate the uptake of contemporary technologies by raising awareness, enhancing knowledge, and conveying the consumer and engineering advantages.

• Offer expertise while nurturing an inclusive atmosphere where the ideas of others are acknowledged and supported.

• Expand skillsets across the wider Capital One team.

• Advocate for engineering excellence and promote the reuse and innersourcing of solutions when feasible.

• Engage with and influence key stakeholders throughout the organization at all levels.

• Serve as a trusted advisor in a specific technology, platform, or capability area.

• Define use cases and implementations in a cohesive manner.

• Mentor internal talent and actively seek external candidates to enhance Capital One's technology team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• A minimum of 9 years of experience in data engineering.

• At least 5 years of experience in data architecture.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in building applications on AWS.

• Preferred: Master's Degree.

• Preferred: Over 10 years of experience in data engineering.

• Preferred: More than 3 years of data modeling experience.

• Preferred: At least 2 years of experience with ontology standards for domain definition.

• Preferred: Over 2 years of experience using Python, SQL, or Scala.

• Preferred: More than 1 year of experience in deploying machine learning models.

• Preferred: At least 3 years of experience implementing big data processing solutions on AWS.

• Experience in leveraging interactive AI tools to enhance productivity, utilizing capabilities beyond basic code completion.
