This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of designated areas within the multi-entity month-end closing process, which includes journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
• Ensure accuracy in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, which encompasses vendor setup, GL coding, and the import of journal and cash-receipt files.
• Manage bank activities and positive-pay files while conducting account analyses with banking partners.
• Maintain segregation of duties and approval controls concerning disbursements.
• Review and code corporate expenses, assist with accounts payable workflows, and reconcile associated accounts.
• Generate internal and management reports.
• Aid in liquidity and cash forecasting, contributing to financial dashboards utilized by leadership.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documents for the annual external audit, as well as for lender and regulatory reporting.
• Document, standardize, and enhance recurring accounting processes.
• Assist in integrating acquired entities and new systems into standardized closing procedures.
• Report directly to the VP of Accounting.
• Strong foundational knowledge in general ledger and reconciliations, including full-cycle month-end closing.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, data connections, and large dataset cleanup).
• Exceptional attention to detail and accountability for closing items, ensuring they are resolved rather than deferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly with banking partners, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
• Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple distinct priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, providing timely follow-up and resolution.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP system is preferred.
• Preferred experience includes insurance, TPA, claims administration, trust/fiduciary, or other multi-entity, high-transaction-volume environments.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Approximately 4+ years of progressive accounting or accounting operations experience.
• CPA certification or active pursuit of one is advantageous.
