Senior Specialist, Subcontracts

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement subcontract strategies that align with both program and organizational goals.

• Oversee risks and ensure adherence to procurement policies.

• Lead negotiations to establish subcontract agreements with advantageous terms and conditions.

• Manage contracts throughout their entire lifecycle, ensuring compliance with established terms.

• Monitor and assess subcontractor performance based on defined metrics.

• Conduct regular evaluations and audits of subcontractors.

• Collaborate with teams in engineering, finance, and program management.

• Identify risks associated with subcontracting and implement strategies to mitigate them.

• Travel for customer meetings, site visits, program reviews, cross-functional collaboration, and project execution, typically 25–30% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree with at least 6 years of relevant subcontracts experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of pertinent subcontracts experience.

• Alternatively, a minimum of 10 years of related subcontracts experience may substitute for a degree.

• Experience in supporting defense, aerospace, or other government contracting sectors.

• Strong understanding of FAR, DFARS, and subcontract flow-down requirements.

• Proven experience in developing statements of work, requests for proposals, and subcontract terms and conditions.

• Familiarity with cost analysis, price analysis, negotiation strategy formulation, and subcontractor risk assessment methods.

• Experience in administering various subcontract types including cost-reimbursement, fixed-price, and time-and-materials.

• Proficient in managing complex subcontract modifications, change activities, funding actions, and supplier performance issues.

• Working knowledge of ITAR and EAR export compliance considerations.

• Experience in supporting audits, compliance reviews, CPSR-related activities, or internal control requirements.

• Ability to influence cross-functional teams, resolve intricate supplier issues, and drive subcontract execution.

• Experience in mentoring junior team members or acting as a resource for less experienced professionals.
