Senior Specialist, Quality SQA Source Inspector

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Conduct in-process and final inspections of machined components, composite structures, and aerospace assemblies.

• Assist Supplier Quality Engineers with First Article Inspection (FAI) tasks.

• Examine Supplier End Item Data Packages (EIDPs) for precision, completeness, and compliance.

• Issue turn-backs for product or documentation nonconformances that hinder acceptance.

• Apply GD&T principles to verify conformity and establish suitable inspection coverage.

• Utilize precision inspection instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, comparators, borescopes, and visual inspection tools.

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to guarantee proper execution of inspections and documentation.

• Collaborate with Supplier Quality Engineers and Quality Managers to address nonconformances and support corrective action initiatives.

• Engage in supplier Work-in-Process (WIP) meetings and complete relevant activity reporting.

• Assist with inspection needs at designated suppliers and provide support to other inspectors as necessary.

• Travel for domestic and international assignments, occasionally on short notice.

• Ensure adherence to internal procedures, customer requirements, and relevant industry and regulatory standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree with 6 years of related experience; OR a Graduate Degree with 4 years of relevant experience; OR 10 years of supplier quality or inspection experience in the absence of a degree.

• Expertise in GD&T, complex assembly inspections, and inspection documentation practices.

• Proficient in the use of precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.

• Capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

• Willingness and ability to support domestic and international travel assignments, sometimes on short notice.

• Eligibility to obtain a US Security Clearance.

• Availability to travel up to 100% due to fieldwork requirements.

• Preferred experience in reviewing nondestructive testing certifications (e.g., FPI, radiography).

• Advanced knowledge of GD&T principles and applications is preferred.

• Preference for aerospace industry experience in supplier quality, source inspection, or related roles.

• Familiarity with nonconformance documentation and corrective action processes is preferred.

• Experience in performing independent product acceptance under stamp warranty authority is preferred.

• Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, and AS9120 standards is preferred.

• ASQ CQI or Six Sigma training/certification is preferred.

• Knowledge of IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 requirements is preferred.

• Experience with borescope inspections is preferred.

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
