Data Reliability and Quality Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Conduct comprehensive testing for new data pipelines and dbt models, ensuring that business logic is accurately implemented in both Fact and Dimension tables.

• Act as the final review point for intricate SQL transformations involving Fact and Dimension tables.

• Develop and execute both generic and specific dbt tests to identify logic errors prior to their deployment in Snowflake.

• Monitor dbt freshness, Stitch Data connectors, and S3 ingestions on a daily basis; proactively detect and communicate data gaps or ingestion issues.

• Establish and sustain automated tests (dbt tests, SQL alerts) to oversee data integrity and schema modifications within Snowflake.

• Take ownership of data-related issues in Azure DevOps, collaborating with Squads for timely resolution.

• Support Product Managers in defining data acceptance standards and assist the QA team with data-related inquiries.

• Conduct spot-checks on Mode Analytics and Metabase dashboards to verify that visual metrics align with the underlying data models.

• Report directly to the Data Quality Lead based in Colombia.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in SQL, capable of crafting complex queries to compare datasets and detect discrepancies.

• Knowledgeable in data modeling, with a solid understanding of star schema (Facts vs. Dimensions).

• Experience with, or a strong eagerness to learn, dbt (data build tool) and Snowflake.

• Familiarity with AWS S3 and data ingestion tools such as Stitch, Estuary, or equivalent.

• Background in using Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools within a sprint-based, agile framework.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Data Engineering.

• Must currently reside in Colombia.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• A robust analytical and problem-solving approach.

• Capable of clearly communicating technical data issues to non-technical stakeholders.

• 5 years of experience in Data Engineering would be an advantage.
