Senior Solution Architect – AI / Technical Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Guide client interactions throughout the sales process by evaluating technical feasibility and establishing a realistic production scope for 8–12 weeks.

• Challenge requirements that cannot be fulfilled prior to contractual obligations.

• Take ownership of architectural decisions that influence profitability, which includes model selection, build versus buy options, accelerator reuse, custom work, and hosting strategies.

• Draft technical components of proposals and statements of work.

• Assist in defining measurable and defensible outcome metrics.

• Represent ConveneAI in client architecture, security, and vendor review boards.

• Conduct architecture reviews during project kickoff and at defined checkpoints for each live engagement.

• Make cross-pod decisions regarding data residency, inference hosting, identity and access management, network isolation, and integration patterns.

• Facilitate pod progress through pairing and design reviews.

• Manage the technical escalation process for engagements that are off track, providing straightforward updates to the Product Owner and leadership.

• Monitor inference costs, latency, and reliability across various engagements.

• Maintain the ConveneAI reference architecture and accelerator library.

• Establish standards for agent design, evaluation, observability, security, and cost management.

• Assess models, frameworks, and tools for inclusion in the standard stack.

• Create reusable technical assets to enhance pod delivery efficiency.

• Mentor GenAI Engineers and Data Engineers through design and code reviews.

• Conduct interviews and calibrate technical hires.

• Assist in defining the engineering career trajectory as the organization expands.

• Collaborate with senior AI architects across the global operations team to ensure consistency across different regions.

• Write and read code, prototype solutions, and defend designs during enterprise architecture review boards.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in building and deploying enterprise software.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience with production LLM or agentic systems relied upon by real users.

• Proven track record as the technical lead on multiple concurrent client projects.

• Strong hands-on experience with Python.

• Experience in cloud architecture with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Expertise in distributed systems.

• Proficient in API and integration design.

• Production experience with agent architectures, enterprise-scale retrieval, evaluation, and AI system operations.

• Familiarity with cost per task, latency, observability, and failure modes.

• Fluency in enterprise architecture, including aspects of identity and access, security posture, data residency, network isolation, and model hosting options.

• Experience in obtaining approval from a regulated client's review board for a design.

• Commercial understanding related to architectural decisions and gross margins on fixed-fee projects.

• Established credibility with client CIOs, Chief Architects, and practicing engineers.

• Sound judgement to advise against unfeasible deals and maintain that stance under commercial pressure.

• Legally authorized to work in Canada.

• Willingness to travel to client locations.

• Bonus: Experience in architectural leadership at a consultancy or systems integrator, or as a Field CTO/principal architect at an AI, data, or cloud platform vendor.

• Bonus: Expertise in regulated industries and specific systems such as Guidewire, Duck Creek, core banking, or clinical systems.

• Bonus: Experience with self-hosted or open-weight model deployment, fine-tuning, and private inference architecture.

• Bonus: Background in building a reference architecture or accelerator library utilized by other teams.

• Bonus: Experience in scaling a delivery organization.

• Bonus: Published work, conference presentations, or open-source contributions related to applied AI architecture.
