📋 Description

• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (HARA, FMEA, FTA, STPA) on the architecture of autonomous software and vehicle operational concepts.

• Derive, specify, and trace functional and technical safety requirements (FSRs / TSRs) for both supervised and unsupervised autonomy.

• Collaborate with teams across systems, software, robotics, hardware, and testing to integrate, validate, and verify safety requirements.

• Assist in creating safety case documents and verification evidence necessary for commercial deployment in airport environments.

• Perform software hazard and safety analyses on modules related to perception, motion planning, localization, and vehicle control in accordance with ISO 26262-6 and SOTIF (ISO 21448).

• Execute software FMEA/FTA, freedom-from-interference analysis, and code-level hazard assessments.

• Derive Software Safety Requirements and establish monitoring/fail-safe mechanisms within multi-core and Linux/RTOS software settings.

• Review safety-critical C++/Python code and robotics middleware in collaboration with development teams.

• Develop Safety Performance Indicators to measure and track safety performance over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of practical safety engineering experience in the fields of autonomous vehicles, automotive (ISO 26262), aerospace (DO-178C/DO-254), or industrial safety (IEC 61508).

• Prior experience with autonomous driving systems or mobile robotics.

• Demonstrated ability to work under the technical guidance of a Principal Safety Engineer within a fast-paced agile engineering team.

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.

• Over 5 years of software development or software safety experience in C++, Python, or ROS/ROS2 environments.

• In-depth understanding of software safety lifecycles, ASIL decomposition for software, unit/integration testing strategies, and static analysis tools.

• Practical experience analyzing software pipelines for autonomous vehicles (perception, planning, fail-safe state machines).
