Senior Software QA Engineer, UI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create and implement detailed test plans and automated suites for new UI features, workflows, and design modifications.

• Develop and maintain browser-based end-to-end automation across various browsers and screen sizes.

• Identify and resolve flaky UI tests by utilizing Playwright traces, videos, and network logs.

• Design, execute, and evaluate UI regression tests to ensure functional stability, visual consistency, accessibility, and responsive performance.

• Verify the UI against backend SQL query outcomes and REST API responses, including scenarios for error states, empty states, and extensive data sets.

• Collaborate with the UI development team to integrate tests into nightly CI/QA infrastructure, enhance test coverage, and refine analysis and reporting tools.

• Work closely with Product Management and UI/UX design to assess requirements and Figma designs, establish acceptance criteria, and ensure the delivered UI aligns with design intentions.

• Provide technical guidance on UI test strategies, frameworks, and best practices.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for the UI, collaborating with customer operations and development teams on user-reported problems, escalations, and validation efforts.

• Mentor junior engineers in UI test automation and quality assurance practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

• 4-6 years of experience in QA engineering or front-end development, particularly focused on testing complex, data-driven web applications.

• Demonstrated experience in test planning, designing, and executing automated, reliable UI test frameworks.

• Proficiency in Playwright (Python) is preferred; experience with Cypress or Selenium is also appreciated.

• Expertise in TypeScript or JavaScript, with a solid understanding of React and modern front-end tools such as Vite, Vitest, React Testing Library, and Mock Service Worker.

• Strong QA and debugging capabilities, with the skill to trace issues across browsers, network requests, REST APIs, and backend services using developer tools.

• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, with the ability to write queries that confirm the data displayed by the UI.

• Familiarity with data ingestion sources such as S3, Kafka, and HDFS.

• Experience in testing accessibility (WCAG), cross-browser compatibility, and front-end performance, including rich components like code editors, interactive charts, and large virtualized tables.

• Experience utilizing design tools like Figma to verify usability and visual consistency.

• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript for automation and tooling.

• Practical experience with JIRA, a test case management system, Git, and CI pipelines such as GitHub Actions.

• Experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf) for authoring and maintaining tests, with the discernment to review generated tests for empty assertions and hidden flakiness.

• Familiarity with Linux, Docker, and cloud environments (AWS or GCP), including deploying and monitoring web applications.

• Ability to analyze complex test results and extract valuable insights through visualization and test data analysis.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to clearly convey technical findings to various audiences.

• Interviews will be conducted via video; candidates are required to keep their cameras on throughout the session.
