Senior Software Engineer/Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offer engineering expertise for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT solutions.

• Create, maintain, and modify computer applications, software, and utility programs for system modernization.

• Analyze user information and needs to devise new applications or modifications.

• Evaluate design feasibility within time and budget constraints.

• Draft program documentation and code comments.

• Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and clients on application design and requirements.

• Assess hardware and software interfaces.

• Establish software testing, validation, programming, and documentation procedures.

• Update and maintain software to rectify errors, adapt to hardware changes, upgrade interfaces, and enhance performance.

• Conduct integrated quality assurance testing for security functionality and resilience.

• Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for system capability and requirement analysis.

• Implement cybersecurity functions including encryption, access control, and identity management.

• Utilize enterprise-wide version control systems to develop secure applications.

• Troubleshoot software using standard debugging techniques.

• Assist application teams in establishing policies for standardizing systems, tools, and security patches.

• Develop programs to validate and process command-line arguments, environmental variables, and input streams.

• Create applications that log and manage errors, exceptions, and application faults.

• Write code utilizing supported programming languages, object-oriented design principles, networking concepts, protocols, and network security methodologies.

• Produce documentation in line with Agile best practices and organizational policies.

• Support tool standardization, CI/CD pipelines, and architecture service views in accordance with Navy security standards.

• Automate builds, testing, and deployments while adhering to security, quality, and version-control standards.

• Establish artifact management practices for libraries, dependencies, and builds.

• Provide support for production outages as needed.

• Assist in the development of release packages.

• Create and update work items in the specified tool.

• Participate in internal review and change boards.

• Perform quality audits, investigate errors, and recommend corrective actions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in Java 8 or higher, JavaScript, JQuery, XML, XML Schema, SQL, Oracle databases, .NET, and C#.

• Mandatory IAM Level I certification (CompTIA Security+).

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, such as engineering or computer science.

• A Bachelor’s degree may be replaced with 2 years of college and 3–5 years of relevant work experience.

• At least 2 years of college/technical knowledge and 5 years of professional experience in modern software development.

• Minimum of 2 years of college/technical knowledge and 5 years of experience with Azure DevOps, Microsoft O365 and Teams, Excel, Visio, and Outlook.

• At least 3 years of experience with agile concepts and principles and participation in agile teams.

• Minimum of 5 years of expertise in one or more of the listed technology areas, including C#, .NET, .NET Core, Entity Framework, ASP.NET, PowerShell, Visual Studio, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, VS Code, jQuery, service-based architectures, APIs, REST, SOAP, EDI, XML, WebLogic, Fusion Middleware, Secure FTP scripting, web application development, Oracle 12c, Kubernetes, or OCI Containers.

• At least 3 years of experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud platforms.

• Strong understanding of security tools and techniques.

• Capability to write automation scripts using Bash or PowerShell.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience and knowledge in cloud-native architectures and Infrastructure as Code.

• At least 1 year of experience in a PaaS environment, such as Appian or Salesforce.

• Strong analytical skills for evaluating security risks and vulnerabilities.

• Excellent communication abilities to work collaboratively with development, security, and operations teams.

• Ability to thrive in a collaborative setting.

• Solid understanding of security principles and best practices.

• Capacity to adapt to evolving security threats and technologies.

• Experience in government and DoD environments is preferred.

• Capability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and fingers.

• Ability to engage in and respond to audible communications during emergencies.

• Capacity to remain seated for extended periods while working on a computer.
