Senior Software Engineer, Typescript

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance features for the GitLab Duo CLI from the initial problem definition through to implementation, rollout, and iterative improvements.

• Create interactive terminal experiences using TypeScript, focusing on command and flag design, clear output formatting, scripting-friendly functionality, and maintaining backward compatibility.

• Enhance reliability, observability, and performance of the CLI while minimizing technical debt.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams across Developer Clients and the AI Clients stage to inform technical decisions and strategies.

• Advocate for product quality, security, and developer experience through thorough reviews and mentorship.

• Contribute to the development of IDE extensions, including those for JetBrains and VS Code.

• Make architectural decisions regarding the future direction of the CLI and work together to create shared developer experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong expertise in TypeScript with a keen interest in developer tooling and command-line interface design.

• Proven experience in building or maintaining command-line tools or developer-oriented tooling.

• Familiarity with command and flag design, terminal user interfaces, output formatting, scripting-friendly behavior, and ensuring backward compatibility.

• Experience managing technical challenges from start to finish and making informed architectural decisions.

• Experience mentoring engineers and guiding them through code reviews.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to thrive in a fully remote, primarily asynchronous work environment.

• Experience in IDE extension development and knowledge of LSP, language servers, or editor integrations is beneficial but not essential.
